We are thrilled to bring the National PKU Alliance’s (NPKUA’s) premier fundraising gala, Lifting the Limits for PKU, to Buffalo, NY. PKU is a rare inherited metabolic disorder that is characterized by the inability to utilize the essential amino acid, phenylalanine (PHE). Amino acids, consumed from the food we eat, are necessary to thrive as the building blocks for body proteins. When left untreated, people with PKU who consume too much PHE are at risk for severe neurological complications, including IQ and memory loss, concentration problems, mood disorders, early developmental delays and intellectual disabilities. Despite ground breaking research that has led to the hope of new therapies and treatments for this disease, the NPKUA’s work is far from over until we FIND A CURE!
Cocktail Reception * Raffles * Silent Auction * Fund-a-Need Paddle Raise
Our Lifting the Limits for PKU gala will be filled with laughs, celebration, music and more. All proceeds that are raised will go directly to the NPKUA Fund, a campaign created by the National PKU Alliance, a nonprofit 501c3 entity. This fund has been specifically developed to advance the science of PKU by funding the most promising and peer-reviewed research that will lead to new therapy discoveries and a cure. Get ready for a really fun night out in our great city and please join us in our mission, as we strive to brighten futures and “lift the limits” for thousands of individuals who face daily struggles from PKU.
|We are excited to share the news that Kathryn Erbe, who played Detective Eames in Law and Order Criminal Intent, will be attending our Lifting the Limits for PKU event in Buffalo, on April 29th!
